A useful hot tub access survey follows the route the tub and equipment will actually take. It begins where the vehicle can stop and ends at the agreed placement point. Repeat it at both properties.
Measure and photograph the route before arranging physical changes. The provider can then tell you what needs more assessment instead of working from a broad description such as easy access.
Start at the vehicle position
Identify the proposed loading or unloading location and any parking restrictions, shared access or permission needed. Note the distance to the gate or entry point and whether the vehicle approach could be blocked by other deliveries.
Keep that area available on the day. A clear garden route is not useful if the transport vehicle cannot reach the agreed loading position.
Record the narrowest openings
Measure clear widths through gates and doors, including hinges, latches and projecting posts. Record overhead clearance under eaves or other obstacles. Add the spa's dimensions and ask about the height or width the handling equipment contributes.
Hot Spring's moving guidance specifically notes the effect of dolly height on overhead clearance.[1] A measurement of the cabinet alone is not a complete transport envelope.
Photograph turns and changes in level
- Take an overall view showing the route's layout.
- Photograph each tight turn from the approach and exit sides.
- Count and describe steps, thresholds and raised edges.
- Identify slopes, drainage channels and surface transitions.
- Show soft ground, gravel and other areas needing assessment.
Put the measurements in your notes. Photographs help explain shape and context but can make an opening look larger or smaller than it is.
Prepare ordinary obstacles and permissions
Move loose chairs, planters, toys and similar items out of the agreed path. Arrange access to locked gates and get approval before using shared or neighboring property.
If a fixed fence section, handrail or other barrier might need removal, identify the responsible person and reinstatement plan. Do not assume the moving service includes property alteration.
Mark the final position
Confirm which side contains the equipment door and where the cover mechanism will operate. A spa can reach the patio and still be badly placed for service. Manufacturer guidance requires appropriate access to equipment and a foundation suited to the operating load.[12]
Use the base-and-location checklist before approving the finish point. Leave room for future inspection and maintenance rather than planning only for the first day.
Send an access summary that can be assessed
Include the dimensions, narrowest opening, step details, surfaces and whether the spa is moving to another address in your moving request. Have route photographs available to share when the provider asks for them.
