Hot tub delivery puts the spa in an agreed position. Installation makes that position suitable for safe use. The same business may arrange both, but you should not assume that a moving price includes the foundation, electrical work, filling or commissioning.
Assign each part of the job
| Stage | Decision needed | Record before delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Site and foundation | Suitable support, load capacity and orientation | Who confirms readiness |
| Transport and placement | Access, handling and exact finish position | Provider's included scope |
| Electrical work | Connection requirements and local approvals | Electrician and appointment |
| Startup | Filling, priming and water care for the model | Person following the manual |
Prepare the foundation for the operating load
The dry transport weight is not the load the patio or deck must support in use. Water and occupants also matter. Bullfrog's Calm instructions require support for the spa, water and users and call for structural advice before elevated placement.[12]
Ask the responsible installer to confirm the requirements for your model. Do not approve a deck, paver area or new concrete pad simply because it appears level. The destination base guide covers the questions to resolve.
Choose orientation before surrounding work
Mark the planned position and equipment-panel side before the spa is unloaded. Allow for service access, the cover-lifting mechanism, steps and drainage. Ask how the tub could be serviced or removed later if landscaping or a deck surround is planned.
Manufacturer guidance specifically warns against blocking the equipment compartment.[12] A visually tidy enclosure can become an expensive access problem when a pump or heater needs service.
Keep hardwired work with the appropriate specialist
Arrange the old-site disconnection and new-site connection separately unless the written agreement clearly assigns them. Hot Spring's moving instructions identify an electrician or spa service representative for safely disconnecting a directly wired tub.[1]
Have the electrician check the model requirements and the applicable approvals at the new location. Do not treat an old cable, nearby outlet or unused circuit as evidence that the new installation is suitable.
Plan the first fill and commissioning
Keep the matching owner manual available. Follow its filling and pump-priming order and watch for leaks or fault messages. Bullfrog warns that energizing an empty spa can damage the pump and heater.[12]
Ask who will explain the controls and initial water care, especially if you are taking possession of a used tub. Keep any technician or inspection records with the manual.
Confirm what is still outstanding
Before setting the delivery appointment, check that the route and foundation are ready and that the next trades are booked in a workable order. Use the relocation timeline to identify dependencies.
Describe those arrangements in your moving inquiry. If an item is outside the transport agreement, give it a responsible person and a completion point rather than leaving it for the delivery crew to discover.
