A hot tub move has several stages with different responsibilities. The owner supplies useful information and arranges preparation. The handling provider assesses transport. The new site and electrical installation must be ready before the spa is used.
Knowing that sequence helps you find missing work without turning a general guide into a DIY lifting procedure.
Assess the spa and both routes
Identify the model, dimensions, condition and available dry-weight specification. Survey the vehicle approach, openings, turns, surfaces and steps at pickup and delivery. Include attachments and any built-in surroundings.
Ask the provider which handling approach is suitable and what needs closer assessment. Do that while the spa remains safely in place.
Agree on the scope and responsibilities
Record who handles loading, transport and final placement. Separate draining, hardwired disconnection, barrier removal, storage, foundation work and startup where they are outside that scope.
The written-scope guide helps identify those boundaries. Discuss damage reporting and the contacts for any separate contractor before booking.
Complete shutdown and preparation
Follow the actual owner manual for the tasks it permits. Arrange hardwired disconnection with the appropriate electrician or spa service representative.[1] Plan approved water disposal and keep the access route dry and clear.
If freezing or storage is expected, address water remaining in internal components. An empty shell alone is not evidence of full winterization.[2]
Hand over the spa for handling
Keep the agreed route and vehicle position available. Remove ordinary loose obstacles, keep children and pets clear and give the handler the relevant model information. Record condition before protection hides the cabinet or shell.
Do not change the route, tip the spa or begin an improvised lift before the assessed plan is in place. If the conditions differ from the description, stop for reassessment.
Check arrival and final orientation
Compare condition photographs and confirm the prepared foundation, equipment-panel access and agreed position. Keep loose accessories and documents together during the handoff.
Manufacturer guidance makes foundation support and service access part of the installation, not merely the transport finish point.[12] Use the arrival checklist before surrounding work blocks inspection.
Restart through the model's procedure
Arrange the new electrical connection and follow the manual's filling, priming and water-care instructions. Do not energize an empty tub or keep running a pump that does not prime as directed.[12]
The complete moving checklist puts these stages into an owner worksheet. Use the first-week operating checks once the spa has been recommissioned.
