Choose a hot tub moving company by how it plans your actual job, not by how confidently it says a spa is easy to move. A useful conversation covers the model, both access routes, preparation and what is included in the price.
Photos and measurements give a provider something to assess. If you are asked only for a date and an address, ask how the tub and route will be evaluated before the crew arrives.
Ask about comparable handling problems
Describe the issue that makes your move unusual: a narrow gate, steps, a long side yard, limited vehicle access, built-in decking or an unknown dry weight. Ask how the company would assess that problem and when it would need a site visit or specialist input.
Experience with furniture or general hauling does not establish familiarity with every spa. Check that the provider will use the model's handling requirements rather than assuming all cabinets and shells can be supported in the same way.
Identify the company doing each stage
Get the name and contact details of the party handling pickup, transport and final placement. If a crane, separate carrier or storage company is involved, ask who books it and where responsibility transfers.
For an interstate household-goods move, FMCSA consumer guidance explains federal liability options and distinguishes them from moves within a state.[4] Ask which requirements apply to the actual service you are buying; do not treat those interstate rules as a universal local spa-moving contract.
Read the scope before comparing prices
- Does the price cover loading, transport and the agreed placement location?
- Who drains and disconnects the spa before pickup?
- Are barrier removal, storage or extra handling separate?
- What happens if the described access is different on arrival?
- Who is responsible for the electrical connection and startup?
- How are damage concerns reported and assessed?
A written answer is more useful than a phrase such as complete service. Use the installation responsibility checklist to separate transport from the work that makes the spa usable.
Check the protection and terms
Ask for the relevant liability or insurance explanation, including exclusions, limits and the claim contact. An insured-company statement is not a description of what would happen to your particular spa if it were damaged.
Read payment, scheduling and cancellation terms before confirming the job. Verify any registration, licensing or authorization relevant to the type and location of the move with the appropriate authority or manufacturer.
Give each bidder the same information
Send the same model details, dimensions and route description to each provider. Then compare the included work and unresolved assessments, not just the total.
The questions to ask before agreeing a price help with that final comparison. Use the quote-information checklist to prepare a useful moving inquiry without guessing the details.
